In part 1, I discussed it would be smart to open an Etsy shop with this link, just so you can get 40 free listings (instead of having to pay $0.20 every time).
We also discussed the importance of doing good research before just starting to create random designs. To do research, I used Everbee.io and mostly Alura.io. My Roketfy free trial had ended, but it’s also worth checking out.
Lastly, I quickly created a design with the help of Canva and Kittl.com. Other tools that I like to use are Vexels.com & CreativeFabrica.com.
Now it’s time for the next step: creating mockups.
Step 4: Creating Amazing mockups
As you’ve seen in Part 1, it’s EXTREMELY important to create good mockups.
An amazing product needs an even more amazing-looking mockup in order to sell!
Let’s have another look at the example listings I saved:
I see the following:
- 10 product images / mockups
- 1 product video
Now, I know that Etsy indeed allows to add 10 product images and 1 video.
So, I’ll take my design and I’m going to create 10 mockups for it. The video I’ll do later.
There are 2 ways that I create my mockups:
For this tutorial I’ll mainly use the Printful mockup generator, because it’s easy to use for canvases.
However, if you’d want to sell t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts or any kind of apparel, I highly recommend using Placeit.net (and I also always use this).
1. Via Printful Mockup Generator
Go to the Printful Mockup Generator
Next you can create a collection (which I did to keep things organized), and you can “Create your product” — which is our mockup in this case.
Find “Canvas prints” (because that’s what I want to make / sell).
Great, now it’s time to add my design:
Once you’re done editing, you can “Save to templates”.
Next, click on your product, and download the mockups:
Choose “Basic mockups”
I select almost everything and click “Download”
It might take a minute to generate and download them… but here we are!
I think this looks really good!
Lovely. And all for free!
2. Via Placit.net
As I said above, Placeit.net is actually my favorite mockup design tool.
It’s not so convenient for canvases in my opinion, but for t-shirts, sweatshirts or hoodies for example, it’s perfect.
You can choose from thousands of cool, professional looking mockups and even videos!
Look what I just made with my design from above:
Awesome, right?
They have tons of free mockups, but even for the “paid mockups”, you pay just $9,99 / month.
And since mockups are actually what makes your products sell, I think this is a no-brainer.
Perfect, now that we have created our 10 mockups, it’s time to put up our products for sale (in part 3 of this series)!
