Your life is amazing, and your life is short. Our time is precious, let’s not waste it.
For this reason, I have written down 7 simple tricks on how to make the best of your life. They might sound simple & dumb, but sometimes simple & dumb is good.
Remember that happiness exist in the smallest of things 🙂
1. Find your passion
Everyone must have a passion, a drive, something that makes you get up in the morning. For some it’s a job, for some it’s a family, for others it’s a hobby… everyone’s passion can be different, and it can change rapidly.
While I realize this is a very difficult thing to do — even I sometimes just “lose my passion” — you have to keep on searching until you find it. Right now I’m into writing, but a couple of months ago I was really into video editing. Our passions change, we change, so keep adapting, keep improving.
Do what you love and love what you do.
2. Take pictures of everything
Pictures are one of the best ways to capture feelings, views, memories, knowledge, fun, happiness,… and all these types of emotions.
Do you remember that one picture of you and your friends, there at that thing, a couple of years ago? That was such an amazing day, wasn’t it?
It makes you remember the feelings you felt back then, it can make you smile. Take pictures, make albums and look at them again years later. Capture those moments forever.
3. Tell people you love them
To whoever is reading this: I love you.
Telling somebody you love them is good for any relationship — it boosts it, it keeps it alive. It reinforces your feelings and helps remind your loved ones — whether your lover, child, parent, friends, or any loved ones — that you are there for them and that they matter to you.
Also, people are generally always looking for an emotional connection. Everyone likes to feel loved, so give it to them — and mean it.
4. Talk to random strangers
Psychologists have found that talking to strangers boosts your mental performance. Apart from this, there are countless other benefits, a few of which them are:
- Meeting someone new
- Makes life more interesting, more surprising
- You could benefit from it (professional, emotionally,..)
- Makes you feel less lonely
In general, we can say that talking to strangers can not only be fun but also enhance our sense of well-being, make us smarter, expand our social and professional networks and even make new friends.

5. Do things that you’re scared to do
You will not improve by always doing the same ‘safe’ thing, over and over again. Take (calculated) risks, take that leap of faith, look fear into the eyes and conquer it.
You gain strength, courage and confidence from experiences that scare you. Overcome your fear, and you will achieve things that you never thought to be possible.
A bunch of “inspirational quotes” to get you thinking:
“An individual develops courage by doing courageous acts” — Aristotle
“A lot of the need to be productive is the terror of things falling apart.” — Judd Apatow
“Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.” — Helen Keller
“The secret of life is this: When you hear the sound of the cannons, walk toward them.” — Marcel France
6. Make your life the best story in the world
YOU are the most important person in your life, never forget that.
Be brave, be adventurous, be romantic, be bold, be everything that you ever dreamt of. You are the hero of your story, so make it worthwhile.
Also — don’t be afraid. You might think you’re a boring person, or that you have a boring life, but without knowing you, I can say with 100% certainty that that’s not true.
I don’t know you, but everyone has a story to tell. We all have experienced things in our lives, things that we liked, things that we loved. We all have passion and interests — be enthusiastic about them, it’s a part of who you are and it’s awesome!
7. Don’t waste your time
Time is precious, don’t waste it.
